The College of Electronic Information and Automation was established in 2002, including two major disciplines, “Instrument Science and Technology” and “Control Science and Engineering”. Our college is also qualified of degree conferment, Master of Engineering in “Electronic Information”. The major discipline “Instrument Science and Technology” is also known as the Important Discipline of Tianjin, while “Control Science and Engineering” is preferentially supported by our university (TUST). Our College has seven undergraduate courses (departments) including “Automation”, “Electrical Engineering and Automation”, “Electronic Information Engineering”, “Communication Engineering”, “Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments”, “Robotics Engineering”, and “Microelectronics Science and Engineering”. The courses of “Automation”, “Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments”, and “Communication Engineering” are top-rated undergraduate courses of Tianjin.

Currently, our College has 101 faculty members, including twelve professors. There are seven doctoral supervisors and 47 master's supervisors of our faculty, as well as 75 full-time teachers, including 61 professional course teachers and 14 basic course teachers. The faculty of the college includes one “Distinguished Lecture Professor of Tianjin”, one “Young and Middle aged Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talent of Tianjin”, one “Distinguished Young Professor and Scholar of Tianjin”, two “Haihe Scholars”, three “Discipline Leading Talents” of universities in Tianjin, and four “Young and Middle aged Core Innovative Talents” of universities in Tianjin.

The construction of discipline is on the highest priority of College, aiming to meet the requirement of society development and improving the quality of personnel training. Every year, students of our College make good achievements in high-level discipline competitions such as the “Internet+” (an innovation and entrepreneurship competition of Chinese undergraduates) and the "Challenge Cup" (a national academic and technical competition of Chinese undergraduates).

Our College has multiple provincial and ministerial level research and teaching platforms, including the "Tianjin Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment Information Technology Engineering Research Center" (Tianjin Engineering Research Center) and the "Advanced Structural Integrity International Joint Research Center" (Tianjin International Cooperation Base). Our College also has made significant achievements in multiple research fields, such as structural safety monitoring techniques, research and application of imaging and non-imaging optical processes, intelligent measurement and control technology, smart agriculture information technology and engineering, complex system control and application, intelligent detection and control of light chemical process parameters, intelligent robots, and new energy generation and control technology. In recent years, our College have been granted with fifteen national-level projects, funded with over 35 million CNY, and over 100 journal papers have been peer-reviewed and published on Top-tier international journals. In addition, nearly 500 intellectual patents applications have been raised and three provincial and ministerial level awards have been received, including the Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award.
